Manager of Information Technology

The manager of information technology's primary responsibilities are to oversee the planning, design, and implementation of communication, Information Technology (IT), and Operations Technology (OT)//Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions (SCADA)networks to ensure alignment with business objectives, established standards and best practices. Provides vision, leadership, and management of all activities in these areas. Supervises and directs employees in these areas to develop and execute projects that securely improve processes and operational efficiency. The role requires a deep understanding of communication, IT, and OT/SCADA network systems as well as a broad knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends.

Duties and Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research and data analysis to inform business decisions, develop strategic plans and assess organizational performance. 
  • Assess, determine, recommend, and implement technology upgrades for the Cooperative and our members.  Manage and execute the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of new technologies, ensuring its integrity and effectiveness for the Cooperative and its members. 
  • Responsible for designing, specifying, purchasing and supervising the installation, testing, operation and maintenance of communication, IT, and OT/SCADA equipment owned or maintained by the Cooperative in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Lead and manage the Cooperative’s Cyber Security program by coordinating and collaborating with other management staff to develop plans and measures that address cyber security threats and risks, develop appropriate policies and procedures and monitor the effectiveness of such plans. 
  • Design and implement network strategies and infrastructure in accordance with rules and regulations
  • Develop, adhere to, and maintain applicable department and company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those pertaining to the NERC/MRO Compliance Program. Designated as the CIP Senior Manager for compliance documentation and associated responsibilities.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks to the Cooperative.  Develop and implement security and internal control procedures including business continuity policies for the information technology architecture.
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of communication, IT, and OT/SCADA network solutions and equipment in accordance with industry best practices and trends.
  • Manage a department with varied functional responsibilities in daily technology tasks.  Demonstrating the ability to prioritize work and address interpersonal differences and conflicts effectively. 
  • Understand the needs of the end user/customer by providing timely solutions in a positive, proactive and collaborative manner.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with member cooperative personnel, cooperative employees, and technology service providers to ensure the successful implementation of projects and processes. Coordinate work with other departments within the cooperative, cooperative members and other utilities.

Job Location:

Humboldt, Iowa. The employee assigned to this position shall reside at a location within twenty-five (25) road miles of Humboldt, Iowa.

Experience:

At least 10 years of progressive IT, OT/SCADA or communications experience with relevant management/supervisory experience required. An equivalent combination of education and management/supervisory experience will be considered.

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline is preferred.
